Route & Itinerary for the 2nd Annual Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour and Reception

Welcome to the 2025 Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour! Below you will find the schedule for the day and a short synopsis of what to expect at each stop.
Our objective with this year’s tour is to highlight this incredible ecosystem, its importance, and the great projects and concepts intended to enhance the eco-neighborhood on the Lower Klamath Lake.
Please remember that with the presentations and resulting conversations, the timing of the schedule may vary.
7:45 am, Running Y Resort (Stop 1)
Check-in for the tour begins in the Running Y Resort lobby. The bus will be parked under the awning at the lodge.
8:00 am, Running Y Resort
Bus departs from the Running Y Resort. If you happen to miss catching the tour bus, please note you can catch it at the Midland Rest Area.
8:15 am, Hwy 97 Rest Stop near Midland (Stop 2)
Check-in for guests who following the tour in their own vehicles and for guests who are meeting the bus at this stop. The bus will leave at approximately 8:25 am.
8:30 am, Straits Drainage Pumping Plant (Stop 3)
Klamath Drainage District General Manager Scott White will speak about the infrastructure and the incredible opportunities for multi-beneficial water management specifically at this location.
9:00 am, Ady Canal Refuge Delivery Site (Stop 4)
USFWS Klamath Basin Refuges Manager Ken Griggs and Lead Biologist John Vradenburg will highlight the extremely important function of water delivery at this location and the long-term vision and benefits of connecting the Ady Canal permanently.
10:00 am, Modoc Farm (Stop 5)
Modoc Nation Homelands Manager Brian Herbert will discuss the Modoc Nation Homelands Project from this vantage point looking toward the Modoc private lands being restored.
11:00 am, North Canal’s future extension project (Stop 6)
KDD District Manager Scott White will discuss the long-awaited infrastructure modernization planning that includes extending KDD’s North Canal across the state line to the refuge for another invaluable option for better water management.
12:00 pm, Liskey Farms (Stop 7)
Lunch!
Lunch will be hosted by Liskey Farms and provided courtesy of Resource Environmental Solutions, including fries made from locally grown potatoes courtesy of Circle C Farm. The Modoc Nation has generously supplied buffalo burgers for lunch as well!
1:20 pm, Klamath Falls National Fish Hatchery (Stop 8)
A personal tour of the USFWS’s new, state-of-the-art sucker rearing facility.
2:15 pm, Birdwatching in KDD
Depart from the National Fish Hatchery for a slow tour across KDD for select bird watching.
3:15 pm, Hwy 97 Rest Stop near Midland
Bus to arrive at Midland Rest Area to drop off guests who left vehicles at this spot.
3:30 pm, Running Y Resort
The tour bus will drop off guests who joined us at the Running Y Lodge in the morning.
5:00 pm, Ballroom at the Running Y Resort
Doors open for the Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour reception. Guests will be treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by the Klamath Irrigation District. and a cash bar will be available. Along with presenters and attendees, guests will have an opportunity to meet KDD land owners.
5:30 pm, Ballroom at the Running Y Resort
The presenters we have lined up are:
- Toz Soto, Fisheries Program Manager of the Karuk Tribe.
- Larry Nicholson, Upper Klamath Basin Ag Collaborative.
- Karl Wenner, Lakeside Farms, will give a presentation about the projects happening at Lakeside Farms and what they’re witnessing.
7:00 pm, Ballroom at the Running Y Resort
