Neighboring the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge in what was part of Lower Klamath Lake (and a part of the Modoc homelands), the Klamath Drainage District (KDD) provides water to 27,000 acres in the district. Over the years, KDD has been a leader in sustainable agriculture in the Klamath Project and a supporter of LKNWR.
Receiving Federal recognition in May of 1978, the Modoc Nation is made up of the descendants of Captain Jack’s Band of Modoc Indians that were forcibly removed to Baxter Springs, Kansas. Today, the Modoc Nation has made investments in their Homelands, including the Modoc Farm. Learn more about the Modoc Nation.
The Klamath Irrigation District (KID) provides water for over 40,000 acres in its district, including Warren Act contract and another 10,000 acres that fall under the Klamath Basin Improvement District. To learn more about the district and its history, visit https://klamathid.org/home/history/.
The Humboldt Area Foundation sponsored this year’s Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour through the Klamath River Fund program. This program’s aim is to invest in the Klamath Basin so it can thrive, ecologically, culturally, economically, and beyond.
Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) is the largest environmental mitigation company in the US that works on a variety of ecological restoration projects ranging from extra acres on family farms to ventures the size of national parks. Learn more about RES and their ecological restoration efforts.
Ducks Unlimited has been involved in waterfowl conservation efforts all throughout the Upper Klamath Basin, including ensuring Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge received water in the spring of 2024. The Klamath Bird Observatory works on collaborative conservation planning while nurturing community outreach and education, including the Common Waterbirds of the Klamath Basin guide book they generously donated to Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour guests.
Liskey Farms
Located on Lower Klamath Lake Road, Liskey Farms’ owner Tracey Liskey and his family have been farming in the Klamath Basin for four generations. Mr. Liskey is a KDD board member and currently serves as president of the Klamath Water Users Association board. He was also instrumental in creating Gone Fishing, which eventually evolved into the C’waam and Koptu rearing facilities now known as the Klamath Falls National Fish Hatchery.
Mary Williams Hyde is a Klamath Basin photographer and bird advocate. Along with the Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour committee, she also lends her knowledge and camera to groups including the Friends of Klamath Basin Birding and the Klamath Bird Observatory.
Loree Johnson is a landscape photographer turned wildlife photographer based in Dorris, California. When she’s not behind the lens getting shots of birds, she manages the newsletter for the Friends of Klamath Basin Birding and is on the Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour planning committee.
Sage Credit Union
Established in 1936, Sage Credit Union has over 26,000 members in the Klamath Basin. From personal banking to business loans and lines of credit for Klamath Ag, Sage provides solutions designed specifically for this region.
Lakeside Farms
Located on the shores of Upper Klamath Lake, Lakeside Farms intends to maximize value for fish, wildlife, and farming and demonstrate how all of these values can be achieved together. Some of the farms’ recent endeavors includes raising and releasing a small number of sucker fish into Upper Klamath Lake.
South Suburban Sanitary District
South Suburban Sanitary District (SSSD) was created in 1957 and serves approximately 7,500 households and business that encompass roughly 10 square miles. One of SSSD’s initiatives is to upgrade its wastewater treatment plant, and in doing so, will potentially free up Class A water to be reused by irrigators and provide water to the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge.
Allied Grant Writing Services
Traci Herbert at Allied Grant Writing Services, LLC has a proven track record of securing grant funding for clients. Conducting research, creating grant calendars and budgets as well as grant management support are offered along with grant writing services.
Locally known as the Running Y, the resort features a lodge, vacation rentals, gathering spaces, and an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course. The Running Y hosts a variety of events every month, including this year’s Lower Klamath Renaissance Tour evening reception.
Klamath County Event Center
The Klamath County Event Center began as a location to host the Klamath County Fair in 1902 and has “evolved into a premier event destination”, offering its facilities to events year-round with one of the largest indoor event facilities in the Pacific Northwest.
